Good morning I hope everyone is in a good place with the manuscript that they spend the bulk of this year working on. With luck it is with your first readers providing them with delight, and you with feedback. Since we don’t want to obsess, we are moving on to a new project and that is setting up a manuscript to work on for this November’s NANOWRIMO. This isn’t official it is simply how I get all my ducks in a row for the November write-a-thon. Also as we spent a lot of time breaking out a novel idea earlier this year I thought it would be fun to go through a slightly different method, after all there are so many ways to plan and write a novel.
And so today we have the third part of Act one to make note of. This part is generally referred to as Plot point one. In this point our protagonist commits to a choice. It could be to try something new or take a class. It could be to accept a new job or don a sword and go out on that epic fantasy quest. D they still have doubts? Quite possibly, but they are committing to an action and this commitment will roll us into the super exciting Act 2. Think of it as the step that takes them into Act 2 if you want. And so…

It can be as long or as short as you want but remember, add as many details as you can so the information is all lined up when you are ready to begin your writing on November first.
